Services and Fees for End of Life Doula Services

I am located in the Portland, OR area and can come for in home visits if located within the service area. If you are outside the service area, I can refer you to a doula closer to you, or we can work together through online video and phone calls if appropriate for your specific needs.

• One complimentary 20 minutes phone call to determine if Chris is a good fit for you and your support system, and to clarify needs.

• One 2-3 hours intake interview in your home, hospital room or hospice home with you and your caregivers, (if in Portland, OR and surrounding areas) to go in depth about your disease history and progression, your goals for living well for the remainder of your life, and hopes and fears you have at this time. This can also take place over Zoom conference if appropriate, and is available Nation wide.

• Weekly in-home visits (2 hours each and dependent on your energy level, in the Portland, OR area) to companion you, explore together what comfort care measures would be helpful for you, complete and properly register an Advance Directive if needed, and assist in planning your end-of-life celebrations and/or homegoings. These can also take place over Zoom conferencing Nation wide if appropriate.

• Two to three in-home visits (2 hours each and dependent on your energy level) to help you create and complete legacy projects (eg, a Dignity Therapy Session, writing letters to friends and family, completing a cook book of your recipes, creating music playlists, making art, etc.) for loved ones to experience once you have died.

• Coordination of bedside vigil (people you trust being at your side) during your final hours of life.

• Immediate in-person support of your loved ones in first one to two hours after your death (if within the Portland, OR area)

• One postmortem bereavement visit per year to support your loved ones. This will be a time to remember you, create ritual and learn how to grieve in healthy ways. I will also provide resources for grief counseling, support groups, etc.

• Compassion, patience and advocacy for you and anyone you choose to be a part of your dying process.

Chris' end-of-life Doula work fee is $30-$75 an hour, which allows you to choose what services are best for you. Financial assistance and sliding scales are available to those in need.
